Ravensburg-Weingarten University

"Rural Base- Global Face“, this is the slogan of Hochschule Ravensburg-Weingarten - University of Applied Sciences. It supports young people wishing to study abroad. Co-operations with approximately 64 partner universities from Mexico to Thailand open up various possibilities of gaining experience abroad. The proportion of international students coming from all over the world amounts to 9% and is hence very high compared with other universities of applied sciences.

IWithin the past ten years, the number of young people studying on the modern campus has doubled from 1,000 to meanwhile about 3,800. Our university ranks among the 30 best universities in Germany as has revealed a survey published by Centrum für Hochschulentwicklung (CHE). The CHE has established the universities which have undergone a particularly promising restructuring process since 2004 and have clearly improved with respect to the teaching and learning situation on the one hand and internationalization on the other hand.

The individual study programs have also reached excellent results in the CHE ranking: Students ranked the Technology Management program among the top programs in Germany. Mechanical Engineering also ranked among the top ten in Germany,  Applied Computer Science has earned the "Climber of the Year" award. What young people appreciate most is the excellent mentoring they get, the practical relevance of their studies and the very well equipped laboratories. In 2005, the Weingarten University was one of the first to have introduced the Bachelor/Master system for all study programs, thus making international degrees possible and improving student mobility.  Moreover, graduating earlier means entering the job market earlier.

The University offers 19 Bachelor's and 12 Master's programs in the fields of technology, economy and social sciences. Lectures and seminars in small groups ensure intensive tuition. The focus is laid on project-oriented acquisition of knowledge. The students can put their knowledge into practice by working on real projects in an industrial company. They gain further practical experience through hands-on laboratory exercises, a practical semester to be completed in an industrial enterprise and an application-oriented final thesis. Thanks to the close relationship between the University and the globally acting industry in Upper Swabia, students have no problems making their way into the job market.
